2013 Houston Rodeo Concert Series


The Houston Rodeo Concert Series is always one of the biggest draws of the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. 

Each year, the rodeo brings in platinum-selling, award winning musicians known the world over. This year is no different. Here is the concert schedule for 2013, complete with every Houston Rodeo performer, a photo and brief bio. Happy planning.

1. Toby Keith

Monday, February 25 Though your kids might know him as “that guy from the truck commercials,” Toby Keith is a country music icon. He is a double platinum singer/songwriter and has collaborated with such musical legends as Sting.


2. Gary Allen

Tuesday, February 26 Platinum recording artist Gary Allan is responsible for such hit albums as Used Heart for Sale and See if I Care. Allan entered the world of country music in 1996 with the release of "Her Man".


3. Alan Jackson

Wednesday, February 27 Alan Jackson is a Hollywood Walk of Fame inductee and member of the Grande Ole Opry since 1991. Jackson is also recipient of 16 Academy of Country Music Awards, 17 Country Music Association Awards and 2 Grammy's. He has performed for a total of over 1 million Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo viewers.


4. Zac Brown Band


Thursday, February 28 Zac Brown Band first made a name for themselves with the release of a single entitled "Chicken Fried". The band has since gone on to collect major accolades including two Grammy Awards. The Zac Brown Band will perform for the third time at Rodeo Houston.


5. Mary J. Blige

Friday, March 1 Reigning Queen of Hip-Hop Soul and 9-time Grammy Award winner Mary J. Blige will return to Houston for Black Heritage Day at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

6. Brantley Gilbert

Saturday, March 2 Country artist Brantley Gilbert is the voice behind Halfway to Heaven, the single (and album) inspired by the artist's brush with death when he was in a major car accident while under the influence. His first #1 single was :Country Must Be Country Wide".


7. Demi Lovato

Sunday, March 3 Demi Lovato received her first big break with her role as Mitchie Torres on Disney's Camp Rock. . She has since released 2 albums and received several awards including Teen Choice Awards for both music and TV.

9. Lady Antebellum

Tuesday, March 5 Multiple Grammy Award-winning trio Lady Antebellum will perform for the fifth time at the 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Lady Antebellum is the group behind the album and popular single, "Need You Now" which continues to be aired on Top 40 radio stations throughout the U.S.


10. Dierks Bentley

Wednesday, March 6 Arizona native Dierks Bentley has released 2 albums to go certified platinum since signing with Capitol Records in 2003. Several of his singles have held spots among the top 5 country music charts.


11. Bruno Mars

Thursday, March 7 Multi-Grammy Award winner Bruno Mars will perform new material from his December 2012 released album, Unorthodox Jukebox.


12. Tim McGraw

Friday, March 8 Country music singer and songwriter Tim McGraw has sold over 40 million units during his career, making him the eighth best-selling musical artist since 1990. He is married to fellow country artist Faith Hill.


13. The Band Perry

Saturday, March 9 The Perry siblings led by sister Kimberly Perry hit the country music scene with the release of their No. 1 hit, "If I Die Young". Their 2009 album soared to platinum status and they have since earned both Grammy and American Academy of Country Music Awards. This will be the Band Perry's second Rodeo Houston performance.


14. Julion Alvarez

Sunday, March 10 Julion Alvarez was voted Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year for Norteno. See him perform for the first time at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2013.


15. Jason Aldean


Monday, March 11 Country rock performer Jason Aldean made his mark in the world of country music with the single, "Hicktown". The 2005 release of "My Kinda Party" earned the artist several country music awards. He performs for the fourth consecutive year at the 2013 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.


16. Kenny Chesney

Tuesday, March 12 Kenny Chesney is a veteran of the country music game. He's performed just about everywhere there is to perform, won just about everything there is to win and accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish.


17. Jake Owen


Wednesday, March 13 This Florida native got his first big breaks opening for Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. He has released 2 full albums and performed at the CMT Music Awards.


18. Pitbull

Thursday, March 14 If you said you've never bobbed your head or sung along to a Pitbull song, you'll likely be lying. He has collaborated with the likes of Chris Brown, Marc Anthony, Ne-Yo, T-Pain and more. See him perform his bag full of fun hits this Thursday night.


19. Blake Shelton

Friday, March 15 Blake Shelton is not only recognized as an award-winning country singer, but as husband to country musician Miranda Lambert and co-judge of NBC's The Voice. He is a two-time winner of the award for Best Male Vocalist at the Country Music Association Awards. This is Shelton's third Rodeo Houston performance.


20. Luke Bryan

Saturday, March 16 Academy Award of Country Music-winner Luke Bryan hails from Georgia and will take the stage of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the very first time on March 3. Bryan release two No. 1 hits in March of 2009: "Rain is a Good Thing" and "Someone Else Calling You Baby".


21. George Strait, Martina McBride, Randy Rogers Band

Sunday, March 17 George Strait, commonly referred to as the "King of Country", has produced more hits to reach #1 than any other recording artist in the history of recording artists. He has sold more than 68.5 million albums in the U.S. to date. Martina McBride has made appearances on both the country music charts as well as the adult contemporary charts. She is the strong voice behind the hit single, "My Daughter's Eyes".
The Texas native members of Randy Rogers Band have had seven singles top the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The group has four studio albums under their over-sized belt buckles.
